OPAL’s NEW Registration System is READY!

Hello Everyone,

I’m Katrina, the OPAL Programming Coordinator, and I have been working on launching our new membership and program registration platform during the last few weeks.

Our registration page for Fall 1: Adult Art Sessions is finally live and open for registration!
It took many sleepless nights to move all of our data out of the decade-old registration system into Sawyer, so thank you all for waiting so patiently.

This email is your guide to creating a Sawyer account and registering for upcoming programming - it will be very long, and some sections will not be relevant to you, but I’ve tried to break steps up with headers.

If you are an OPAL Member and have recently responded to an email regarding a Household membership or annual renewal, I will be in touch this evening to finish setting up your joint account and/or sending out an invoice to collect your dues.

If you have any questions or experience any issues, please respond to this email - expect some delays, but I should get back to you within 48 hours!

Create a Sawyer Account

Everyone must create an account with Sawyer to register for OPAL programming.

OPAL Members have already been integrated into the Sawyer system and can skip this step.

DESELECT THE Receive Sawyer email communication CHECKBOX

Click the Sign Up button, then head to your email inbox.

Verify Your Account

If you create a new account or purchase a membership, you will be sent a generic Sawyer verification email and must click the orange Verify account button to set a password.

OPAL Members should also have received this email when their accounts were transferred over.

If you do not receive this email or accidentally delete it, please respond to this email to request assistance.

Once you are verified, LEAVE THE SAWYER WEBSITE.

OPTIONAL: Become an OPAL Member

If you already hold OPAL membership or you’re not interested in joining at this time, please skip this section.

If you’d like to join the OPAL community as a Member and save on program registration, please purchase a membership plan before attempting to register for programming with no other products in cart - discount codes will only work if you have an active membership loaded into your account, so they must be purchased separately and in advance of sessions.

If the widget is not loading properly, there is a link at the bottom of that OPAL page that will take you directly to our membership plan section in the Sawyer system - it will open in a new tab.

Finding Adult Art Sessions

A link to live programming will always be on the main page of our website.

You can navigate to the Adult Art Sessions page from the menu bar across the top of the screen by going to Classes > Adult Art Sessions

Active registration details will be available at:

A live list of upcoming programming will be displayed on the widget, which is an embedded webpage.

Sawyer recommends you use a Chrome or Firefox browser to have the best experience.

New Registration Categories

You'll notice that there are a series of tabs across the top of the new registration page/widget - we've had to adopt and adjust some language to offer you different types of programming using Sawyer’s scheduling structure, so here's a quick breakdown of what will be available in each section:

Workshops

Our Figure Drawing sessions will be listed here.
Another email will be sent out when we release the new Figure Drawing calendar, so stay tuned!

Multi-Session

All programming scheduled over multiple weeks will be listed here, including our standard 5-Week Sessions, which we've previously referred to as "classes."

Single Session

All programming scheduled for a single day AND consecutive days will be listed here, including 1-Day + 2-Day Sessions, which we've previously referred to as "workshops."
We only have one activity listed for Fall 1, but expect more learning and social opportunities in the coming months!
BTW, we still have a few spots open for Mami Takahashi's Japanese Papermaking (Washi) Session taking place this Sunday, August 23, from 2–4 PM. The registration page is live outside of the Sawyer system, so please reach out if you'd like help enrolling or want to access the Member discount. I'm attending + very excited to learn some new skills!

Membership

This is where new students and community members can go to purchase a membership.

Exploring Session Listings

Clicking More info will take you to a session page with full program details and a registration link.

If you wish to return to the full Fall 1 class schedule, please be aware that here is a known linking issue in the system.

I have requested that the Sawyer team include a link back button from session description pages to the general live schedule page. In the meantime, I have added large green buttons above and below the widget + a text link at the bottom of each session page that will head back to the main list view.

You may end up with a few extra tabs in your browser - I apologize for any inconvenience.

Please feel free to send feedback about your user experience - I will gladly pass your notes along to Sawyer's tech support team.

Registering for a Class

If you believe you have credit in our previous system and you haven’t discussed that with me in the past week, please respond to this email - please note, I will be doing a thorough credit audit at the beginning of next week and reaching out to individuals.

Make sure you are logged into your account in the Sawyer widget or on the Sawyer page - if you aren’t logged in, click the little orange Log In link at the top of your screen.

If you ARE logged in, you’ll see a little circle with a greeting and a shopping cart.

Click Register

Select the participant
(most likely your own name)

Click Add to Cart

If you are part of a Household and interested in registering more than one person for a session, please respond to this email - I will generate an itemized invoice for you.

The session will be added to you shopping cart - the little cart icon will have an orange circle.

You can elect to Keep Shopping to add another session or Checkout…

BUT PLEASE NOTE:

OPAL MEMBERS:
Type MEMBER26 + click Apply

Individuals w/ credit:
Input your unique code
+ click Apply

Your Subtotal will update to reflect the discount

Click Checkout to be taken to the section where you can fill out your personal information + session details.

You’ll also need to sign a digital copy of the OPAL Class Registration Policies & Code of Conduct - you must click on a link to see a digital copy. You only need to submit a digital signature once.

Click Continue to Payment

A final screen will appear to collect payment information, and clicking Checkout will complete your order.

A confirmation email will be sent to your inbox, and you’ll be officially signed up for FALL 1!

Expect to hear from your instructor(s) in the week leading up to your first day of a session.

Please watch out for more emails in the coming weeks and months as we launch new features - we will also have a dedicated FAQ page on the OPAL site launched by the end of the year.
