Greetings OPAL Community! In July, OPAL participated in the July 4th parade, celebrating creativity and connection even in the rain!
We hosted a successful bake sale, raising funds to support our programs. Additionally, we offered a special crochet class for a group of autistic artists visiting from Atlanta.
These outreach events continue to strengthen our commitment to providing art for all. |

I want to especially thank Linda DeViller for her dedicated service and valuable contributions to OPAL as Board President from January 2024 August 2025 and longtime service on the board and as a member.
To support OPAL’s mission the board has re-started committees with a board member heading each. Whether its Building & Grounds, Education, Marketing & Membership or Fundraising, we are currently seeking volunteers eager to contribute their time and talents to better serve our community.

The Oak Park Art League has partnered with La Romita School of Art in Umbria Italy to form a group artist retreat in summer 2027. Currently we are sharing this opportunity and gathering interested artists who would like to learn more join in this exciting art adventure! |

OPAL is honored to host Betty Kim as our artist-in-residence July through September 2025.
Betty is a lens-based artist and educator in the Chicago metropolitan area. She incorporates self-portraiture, archival materials, pop culture, and a range of fiction and non-fiction sources through her exploration of the following mediums: photography, printmaking, fiber arts, and sculpture. |

During OPAL’s Fall Fundraiser, HOUSE of OPAL, the work by OPAL members on the gallery walls will create a rich backdrop of creative expression, epitomizing OPAL’s mission and representing our unique artistic community.
Artist members interpret the multiple meanings of the word ‘fashion’ - the concept of fashion, the verb to fashion, to create in your own unique style an artwork that can only be made by you and is immediately recognizable as your work.

OPAL recognizes that the region we now call Chicago and Oak Park was the traditional homeland of many Indigenous nations,
