Gather

  • Oak Park Art League 720 Chicago Avenue Oak Park, IL, 60302 United States (map)

“Art helps us identify with one another and expands our notion of ‘we’ - from the local to the global.” - Olafur Eliassen

How do our recent experiences of isolation inform the way artists think and work? Does a longing to gather amongst family, friends or strangers change the direction of an artist’s body of work? And how do we depict our relationships, including multi-generational, romantic unions, and alternative family structures through artistic practice when gatherings have been limited? “Gather” aims to showcase work that explores the themes of our human connections to those that shape our lives and community. “Gather” is meant to remind us of what brings us together despite separation.
