Creative Reuse with instructor Lacy
This class will teach students that art can truly be made from anything! We will explore art making across many different mediums with a focus on sustainability and resourcefulness. Projects will include sewing with scrap fabrics, crafting with leaves, making collages, and most importantly, make use of items that would otherwise go to waste. If your child is an innovator or a collector of found objects, this is the class for them!
Materials: Students are not required to bring materials as our projects will use mainly recycled materials and what we have in the supply closet at OPAL. The instructor will provide recycled materials such as magazines, scrap fabrics, and cardboard. Students are welcome to bring items from home to incorporate into their projects.
Suggested materials include:
Week 1: Magazines
Week 3: Old clothing, fabric scraps, or t-shirts (No stretch fabrics, 100% cotton recommended)
Weeks 2-5: Any found object the student wants to include in their project (Button collection, dried foliage, seashells, small objects, etc.)
