James Sweitzer

Jim is an astrophysicist whose career focused on museum education. He has been the Assistant Director of the Adler Planetarium, Chicago, and Director of Special Programs for New York’s Hayden Planetarian. His love of art was nurtured by his mother and sister, who were watercolorists. He taught astronomy at the School of the Art Institute and has taken courses at Raw Umber and Vitruvian Studios, as well as at the Oak Park Art League. He especially enjoys portraiture and urban sketching and “how human perception, and the science of light affect art.”
